ready, set…….move

kids are on spring break.

But we’re busy getting ready to move.  cleaning, purging and pre packing.  and of course in between we’re going to try to find some time to do some fun things.  We have to!!

Well this has been home for the last 8 months. We met some happy people, happy neighbors and we’ve totally loved our high street and everything about the area.

But it’s time to move.  I have no doubt that our Landlord will have no problems selling this property.  It’s been great!!

now to get back to cleaning………

a late view ~ imagination

I’ve watched many a documentary on the how and when and who put these stones together.  the creativeness and resourcefulness of it all is truly remarkable.

I love visiting the Stonehenge.

doing something for myself.

sometimes I come up with too many excuses but today I did it.  I did something for myself.

I got a mani/pedi and then went for it and had a massage while I was there.    I’m thankful for pretty nails but my body is thanking me for the massage.  Even the massuese told me that I my neck and shoulders were stiff and had so many knots.

It looks like I’ll need to book a few more sessions.

corner view ~ looking up

when you walk into a church, one cannot help but look up.

Our recent trip to Rome and St Peter’s Basilica was no different.  All those grand pieces all over and up above us, was exquisite.

the walk up to the Cupola (Dome) was not easy but the view was so worth it.

Mother’s Day

so this past Sunday it was Mother’s Day!

weird right?!  I’m not use to celebrating Mother’s day so soon into the year.  I grew up celebrating my mum in May and when I became a mum I continued to celebrate it in May.  Although in Thailand, we celebrated in August as it coincided with the Queens birthday.

I guess it’s just one of those things that you adopt and you go along with your host country.  It’s only right, isn’t it?  Anyway my kids and husband, loved on me.  Took me out for breakfast and let me pretty much relax all day long.  Which is always a treat.

Here’s a card my son made for me.  It made me cry and because it was the first one I opened my girls teased my son for ‘making me cry’ on Mother’s day.

thinking I’ll be a little more confident to use my bike more often. When it gets warmer for sure.

Still a little too cold here.

have I found my happy house to make a home?

after viewing so many houses we’ve finally narrowed it down to 2.  Well we kept on going back to these 2 anyway.

The kitchen is always important for us (well for me anyway).  It is the heart of a home isn’t it??

we’re putting forward an offer today for the first choice.   my fingers are crossed.

Hoping for some good news by the weekend so we can move on.

corner view ~ something difficult

well I’ve been on a corner view (blogging) ‘hiatus’ taking in some pasta, wine and gelato!!!

But now I’m back.

So today’s theme is ‘something difficult’ – Well staying positive and upbeat, now that’s difficult to do.  With our recent experience in Rome it really tested my ‘glass is always full’ outlook.  And when you have to model that behavior for your kids, it’s tough.

imperfections

“Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections.”

we’ve hit the ground running…..

steps in rome

so if you didn’t already hear – we were stranded in Rome Italy.  What was suppose to be a 1 week mid-term break ended up being 3.

It was an ordeal.  I’m not going to lie about it.  It was stressful.  Not just for my husband and I, but also my kids.  Looking back my kids were such troopers and just took it for what it was and handled it as best as they could.  I am proud of them.

There were many instances when I went through the scenarios in my head with what I ‘should have and could have’ done differently but that can totally mess with your head and rob you of your peace, and efforts to move on.

Anyway it happened.  We learnt our lesson, we also tested some ‘policies’ from our respective Consulate and processes back in our home country.  Lessons learnt all around.

I’m just glad it’s over.  Never have I been so happy to sleep in my own bed and cook my own food.

And now that we’re back,  we’re running out of time.  Remember I shared a while back that our landlord wants to sell so he’s kicking us out…….well we still haven’t found a house and times almost up.

Since returning last Friday I’ve seen over 10 houses……it’s time to short list them and make a choice.  I hate being rushed.  Especially when it comes to finding that house to make a home.

But again…..it is what it is and you do what you have to do.

Life is still good!!

hugs…….

now it’s just a memory…………

28th of February

this is always a sad day for.

DSC04152-copy

my father’s birthday is on this day, but you see he is no longer with us.  He lost his battle to cancer 5 years ago.  And although time has passed, it has not really healed.

I think of Dad a lot and I miss him much.

Today would have been a day of celebration, a day to love him and a give him his presents, (although that is not what he ever really wanted).

He was a simple man, loved simple things.  And on his birthday -   ice cream is what he would have really just wanted.  Ice cream!!

So today Dad, like every other day that I think of you and remember you in my heart – I will have an ice cream.

Happy Birthday Dad!  Today you would have been 65.

Gone too soon.
